Dan Brennan, Chief Marketing Officer of Skylight, appointed board member of The Music Settlement
Dan Brennan, Chief Marketing Officer of Skylight Financial Group, has recently been appointed a board member of The Music Settlement which is one of the largest schools of its kind in the US and serves 4,500 children and adults across its three primary areas of excellence – music therapy, music instruction and early childhood education.
This 101-year-old institution, which bills itself as “the most beautiful place to learn music in Cleveland”, is centered on the entire community and welcomes students of all ages and abilities who are excited about learning music. The mission of The Music Settlement is to help people realize their potential which is built on a firm belief in the power of music to change lives. Indeed, many of its students have grown to become professional musicians, while others become lifelong arts aficionados. To ensure the experience of music is extended to everyone, scholarship funding is available to welcome students who may not have the ability to pay. Historically, based in the University Circle, the Music Settlement has recently opened a new venue, the Bop Stop, in the thriving Ohio City neighborhood. The Bop Stop, which was originally a jazz club, is a spectacular venue with excellent acoustics where performances are held and where students can learn music.
On his appointment, Dan Brennan said “As part of Skylight’s commitment to making a positive and lasting contribution to the communities we serve, including the special needs community, I feel very privileged to be appointed a board member of The Music Settlement. The Music Settlement is a wonderful organization that contributes greatly to the music culture of Cleveland and has provided exceptional arts education for more than a century. It’s very exciting to see how the experience of music can be brought to everyone and seeing students, who otherwise may not have the chance, develop a real love for music. The work of The Music Settlement is so inspiring with its nationally acclaimed music therapy program improving the quality of life of so many folks with special needs and its top class Early Childhood program sowing the seeds of life-long interest in music in so many young children.”
Brennan added “Being based in Ohio City ourselves, we are thrilled to see the Bop Stop opening on Detroit Avenue. It’s an extraordinary venue with amazing acoustics and it’s really brought a new energy to our vibrant neighborhood.”
Dan will bring to the board his expertise and experience as a successful entrepreneur who develops strategies to maximize organizational effectiveness and as a board member of many community organizations including President of Little Italy Redevelopment Corporation and Gay Games 9. Dan is also the recipient of the Distinguished Marketing and Sales Award 2012 which recognizes excellence in sales and marketing, extraordinary customer development, successful leadership and community involvement.
