Mark Owens, Director of Marketing, appointed Board Member of Ohio City Inc.
Mark Owens, Director of Marketing at Skylight Financial Group, has recently been appointed as a board member of Ohio City Inc., the community development corporation responsible for preserving, promoting and developing the Ohio City neighborhood which is home to 9,000 residents and 250 businesses.
Ohio City, a vibrant and diverse neighborhood, which has seen private and public investment of over $100 million in the last two years, is one of the fastest growing and dynamic districts in Cleveland. For the residents and business owners who make up the Ohio City Inc. membership, programming and activities give them access to high quality schools, libraries, medical care, adequate and affordable housing, healthy food options, arts, culture and entertainment. The corporation has also recently begun experimenting with new forms of neighborhood empowerment through social entrepreneurship, network-building and asset-based economic development.
On his appointment Mark said “I’m delighted to join the Ohio City Inc board. We’ve loved Ohio City since we moved into our new office space in the United Bank building back in 2014 and have set out to fully integrate ourselves in the neighborhood. We really want to support our community and bring diversity and growth to what is already a progressive and exciting neighborhood. Ohio City Inc. has done so much to drive new investments and preserve the history of this unique place and it’s a privilege to be part of this.”
Mark will bring to the board his expertise and experience as a successful marketer and business professional whose achievements include chairing the 2013 Cleveland North American Gaelic Games Final, which has been estimated to have brought in close to $1.4 million to the region’s economy and for which Mark was awarded the 2013 Cleveland Sports Development Gold Medal from The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission.
