Meet Skylight's New Associate James Hailey

College: John Carroll University - Undergrad '86-'90, Graduate '90-'93

From: Cleveland, OH

Why did you want to work at Skylight?

First, to help young financial planners optimize their practices in harmony with their core values and help them learn new relationship building skills.  Second, to advance my personal financial practice with a firm that truly believes in the financial planning process and doing what is right for the client, first and always.

Tell us something you are really good at?

While I didn't play organized sports in high school and college, I became a competitive basketball and softball player and member of a rowing team.

A fun fact about you:

My mother is a native German but I can't speak a lick of German and I wasn't always bald; I wore an afro in the 70s.

Your favorite place to hang out in Cleveland or Columbus:

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Row, play basketball, run trails

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

I free dove in the Atlantic Ocean near an underwater cage used to keep out sharks.  The cage was used to contain the fish, Cobia, that were bred and hatched by scientists in a facility in town.  The sharks would try to feed on the dead fish caught in the cage.

Who would you most like to meet – alive or dead?

My great grandfather.

Where do you want to be 10 years from now?

Still living in Cleveland, but spending more time in warmer temps
