Skylight Financial Group Building added to Sparx City Hop 2014

We are very excited that the lobby mural in the Skylight Financial Group Building (formerly known as the United Bank Building) is to be a new tour stop on the Sparx City Hop which takes place this year on Saturday September 20.  The mural in the domes above the first floor lobby, commissioned by Skylight, has been sketched and painted by one of Cleveland’s up and coming art stars, Jessica Newell.  Jessica, who is an artist, curator and gallery owner, is best known for her abstract landscapes and Cleveland scenes.  The impressive lobby mural is post-impressionist in style and beautifully captures market scenes and Cleveland architecture around 1910.

“We are thrilled that the lobby mural has been added to the City Hop.  We have now been located in Ohio City for around 6 months and we love this vibrant and historic neighborhood.  We want to be part of what’s best about Cleveland, integrate ourselves into the community and bring additional vitality and creativity to the district.  It’s just been amazing to watch Jessica work and see the mural progress over the last months.  We love what she has accomplished and are very excited about the mural unveiling at City Hop,” said Dan Brennan, Skylight’s chief marketing officer.

Sparx City Hop, now its 12th year, expects to draw around 25,000 visitors to Cleveland and offers a whole different way to experience Cleveland’s neighborhoods.  It’s an opportunity to explore the visual, culinary and performing art venues in Cleveland neighborhoods either on foot or by hopping on a free trolley which connects to core Cleveland districts including Downtown, the Warehouse District, the Gateway Neighborhood, Ohio City, Tremont, the Art Quarter, Asia Town and the St. Clair/Superior District.  Individual and families can view, for free, more than 70 galleries and artist studios, watch live entertainment on the sidewalks or at Perk Plaza, enjoy food at some 100 restaurants and experience the vibrant markets.

If you are interested in viewing the mural unveiling and joining in the day’s festivities, visit the Sparx City Hop
website for further details.
