John Dunlavey of Skylight sponsors the build of Habitat for Humanity Homes

John Dunlavey, Financial Planner at Skylight Financial Group and member of the Home Builder’s Association (HBA), earlier this month, helped sponsor the building of two Habitat for Humanity homes.  In total, an incredible 4 homes, located in Akron and Barberton, were built in only 8 days as part of the annual HBA Builders Blitz, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity.  Four private builders, all members of the HBA serving Portage and Summit Counties, worked fast and furiously to complete the houses on schedule and make dreams come true for 4 low-income families.

John, who, in addition to sponsorship, provided meals for the workers, said “The Blitz was a tremendous opportunity to give back to the community.  Everyone worked incredibly hard and gave up their time, talent and resources to make this project a huge success.  For the new homeowners, like Sharon Trice (pictured right), who were in need of decent shelter, having a home of their own is something they could only previously dream of.”

Pictured right is Sharon Trice, alongside John and the construction crew.  Sharon’s new home is on South Hawkins in Akron.   Also pictured below is the second home built on Independence Ave., in Akron.
