Skylight team in training for “Tough Mudder” challenge

A Skylight Financial Group team of six financial planners are putting in long hours of hard training to compete in this year’s Ohio “Tough Mudder” which has been billed as “probably the toughest event on the planet”.  Tough Mudder, will take over Mansfield Airport on May 17th and transform some of the country’s finest farming soil into the world’s filthiest mud for a 12 mile military style obstacle course which will raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.  It’s described not as a race but as a challenge that’s about teamwork and camaraderie.  For our team of Brian Marino, Bernard Garrah, Tim Farley, Ryan McKean, Corbin Blackburn and Bryan Kranek, they are under no illusion of the endurance required for this grueling challenge which will test them physically, mentally and as a team as they take on 25 obstacles which typically include crawling under live wires, climbing walls and cold baths.

Brian Marino, Financial Planner, at Skylight said “We are excited (and perhaps a little bit daunted!) about this year’s challenge and realize that we need to be at our peak fitness.  Tough Mudder are hardcore events and we are lifting, running and doing Crossfit, Insanity and TRX to get ready.  It’s a true personal challenge for me.  I entered last year and got injured so I want to train harder and finish stronger this year.”

Tough Mudder has become somewhat of a craze and there will be 55+ events worldwide in 2014.  Over $6.5 million (and counting) has been raised for the Wounded Warrior Project which assists tens of thousands of wounded service members and their families through programs and services focused on helping them, not only survive, but thrive in life post-injury.

For our team on May 17th, the mud forecast is “thick mud”!
