Skylight’s Katy Bryan helps educate and fundraise in the fight against human trafficking
Katy Bryan, Financial Planner at Skylight Financial Group, who has been on the board of the Renee Jones Empowerment Center
(RJEC) since 2013, is chairing this year’s 2nd Annual Gala fundraiser – Breaking the Chains of Human Trafficking on November 8, 2014 at the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging. The RJEC is the only Northeast Ohio non-profit organization committed to providing life coaching and aftercare services to those with the courage to break the human trafficking cycle. RJEC shines light on the dark side of humankind and offers a comprehensive approach to getting lives back on track.
Katy, whose role in the RJEC is to continue to build relationships, chair the annual Gala and educate others on what human trafficking is, said, “The annual gala is a great event to raise much needed funds for the Renee Jones Empowerment Center so that we can continue to provide direct resources and give help to victims of human trafficking here in NE Ohio. Toledo is the 3rd largest area for human trafficking in the Nation and it is starting to flow more into every suburb in the NE Ohio area. It happens here in our back yards and most of us aren’t even aware of it. The RJEC works directly with local law enforcement as well as the FBI to help victims that are brought to them.”
