Skylight’s Olga Starr inspires LGBT Youth

Olga Starr, Associate in our Columbus office, recently met up with young business students from Out in Business, the Ohio State University LGBT group, to chat about LGBT issues in the workplace and share her experiences.  Along with Cindy Tillman, who represents the LGBT employee resource group at Bob Evans, they met up at Columbus North Market on Saturday January 31 where they all enjoyed coffee and a chat.

On meeting with the group, Olga said, “I was delighted to have been invited to speak to the members of Out in Business about being openly LGBT in the business environment.  It was amazing to share with these young people how I've witnessed the business world changing - going from silent discrimination to the acceptance of diversity. There's still a lot of work to do in regards to LGBT equal treatment and protection from discrimination in the workplace, and it was awesome to see the young generation of professionals growing up believing in themselves and ready to conquer the world.”

Out in Business was set up to provide Fisher College of Business students who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and allies, a supportive community, an opportunity to network with business professionals from Columbus companies and their respective affinity groups, and leadership opportunities throughout their time at The Ohio State University.
