‘Partying with a Purpose’ in Toledo

It’s the party to beat all summer parties (just check out the video collage below)!  The popular PNC ZOOtoDo, presented by Skylight Financial Group, did it again by drawing a sold-out crowd of 2,000 guests on June 16 and making it the largest in the event’s history.  The black-tie-and-tennis-shoes event, organized by Toledo Zoo, and called “Party with a Purpose”, is now in its 31st year and raises funds to support animal management, conservation and educational programs for the zoo.

For Skylight’s Managing Director Mike Buganski, Financial Advisor Tom Gallagher, and Partner and Financial Planner Chris Heerdegen, ZOOtoDo is a staple and part of their ongoing commitment to supporting their community.  Mike Buganski first sponsored the event 12 years ago when he invited along two couples.  Now, this has spawned to 70 guests, made up of clients and friends, who keep coming back year after year, to enjoy great food, drinks, and entertainment.  This year Skylight had a private VIP party inside the Arctic Encounter, where guests could sip and nibble while watching the polar bears swim.  Later in the night, guests were entertained in the Skylight VIP tent.

“It’s the best summer party around and it’s a win-win for us!  We get to entertain and thank our clients, and at the same time, we get to support our local Toledo zoo.  It’s one of the top zoos in our country which is amazing for a small city like Toledo.  Our clients and friends have a blast.  We start with 70 guests and by the end of the night, we have around 130 or 140 people in our VIP tent.  Many new friendships are made and business connections struck – all while people are having a great time and supporting a wonderful cause!” said Mike Buganski.

The party also gives exposure to 50+ local restaurants and caterers who present their house specialties.  This is topped off with live entertainment on multiple stages throughout the night.  The net raised for this year’s ZOOtoDO event is estimated to surpass $250,000.

Tom Gallagher added, “ZOOtoDO is really important to us as we are committed to supporting our community and believe in keeping it local.  As well as supporting one of the nation’s premier zoos, it’s great exposure for local restaurants.  Our clients and friends have the best of times and we receive so many compliments and thank you cards. It’s an incredibly fun event, which we get to enjoy with a great group of people.  Without a doubt, it’s the highlight of our year!”
