Skylight Attends Opening of Renovated Lakeside Lake, West Dayton

Skylight’s Rick Rudnicki (Financial Planner Toledo) and Kelsey Koren recently joined Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley, volunteers and community leaders at a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the first phase of the Lakeside Lake’s restoration in West Dayton.  Funds for the renovation came from this year’s AFL-CIO Union Sportsmen’s Alliance Conservation Dinner, for which Skylight Financial Group was a major sponsor.

The lake cleanup and renovation was selected as the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance and Ohio AFL-CIO’s annual conservation project, restoring what was formerly West Dayton Amusement park, which had been neglected for many decades.  In addition to contributing funding to the project, more than 100 local union members and community members volunteered, over the course of six months, cleaning up the shoreline and areas around the lake to restore the beautiful vista. The union volunteer workers also installed a swing, two new iron benches and a floating fishing pier to create a family-friendly and fishing area.  Further work is scheduled over the coming months to improve pathways, lighting and parking.

Rick Rudnicki, Senior Associate and Financial Planner Toledo, said “I was so proud to have Skylight Financial Group be a part of the Union Sportmen’s Alliance dinner this year, and to be able to help raise funds for their conservation efforts which has helped fund this wonderful project.  It’s a great example of how union members give of their time and skills, in addition to funding, to support the great outdoors and create a space that can now be enjoyed by all.  This renovation will make a real difference to the community in West Dayton.”
